The name Holowé was inspired by the old English word holloway; a sunken path, carved over time by footsteps, wheels, and weather. These paths weren’t planned. They formed naturally through repeated use. No two looked the same.
That image felt familiar to us.
Many autistic people don’t move through the world in the ways others expect. Instead of following the main roads, they often create their own quieter routes. Routes shaped by experience and adaptation. Holowé reflects that. It honours the idea that your path might look different, but it is still valid and meaningful.
Holowé is a self-paced learning space created by and for autistic people. It’s here to support you in understanding yourself more deeply. That might mean exploring your needs, making sense of long-standing patterns, recognising strengths, or finding words for things that were always there but never explained.
This isn’t a programme to complete or a checklist to follow. There’s no right way to use it. Holowé is a companion you can return to in your own time. You can explore it slowly, pause when you need to, and take from it whatever feels useful.
Holowé is for autistic adults. That includes people who are self-identified, recently diagnosed, or still working out where they fit. It’s also for people with co-occurring conditions, or anyone who sees themselves reflected in this space, even if they are still unsure about the label.
Supporters, professionals, and loved ones are welcome here too, especially those who want to learn gently and support without trying to change who someone is.
There is no single path to follow. You can begin anywhere. You might choose to read everything or just dip in where your attention goes. You are free to skip things, come back later, or stay with one idea for a while.
Holowé is structured like a journey that adapts to you.
-
Pathways are broad themes such as communication, relationships, emotions, and sensory experience.
-
Each pathway contains trails, which explore one focused area like meltdowns, internalised ableism, or autistic joy.
-
Trails are divided into milestones, each offering a short, accessible section that usually takes three to five minutes to explore.
-
Within each milestone, you’ll find steps, which are practical suggestions or things to try, and echoes, which are gentle questions for reflection.
-
Optional downloads and tools are included throughout. You can use them, adapt them, or leave them for later.
You don’t need to finish anything to learn something. If you prefer a little more structure, you’re welcome to move through each pathway in order. You can begin with the first one, and we’ll gently guide you along the trails from there.
However you use Holowé, it still counts.
Because many autistic people grow up without support, without language, and without being understood. Because too often, we are taught that who we are is something to hide, fix, or overcome. And because discovering that you were never broken can feel freeing, overwhelming, and lonely all at once.
Holowé was made from lived experience. It’s not here to fix you. It’s here to meet you where you are. A place where you don’t need to mask, explain, or justify yourself. A place to unlearn shame, reconnect with your needs, and move at a pace that is kind to your nervous system.
Whatever brings you here, you are welcome. We’re glad you found this space.
